EAST RECAP- There are two teams that are clearly better than the rest, or so everyone thinks. Chicago will win the most games over the course of the season, if and only if, Derrick Rose remains healthy. He doesn't have to be his old self because of the stifling defense but efficient none the less. Cleveland ahs too much talent but don't overlook a young Washington squad poised to win that division. John Wall and Bradley Beal are the real deal. Brooklyn wins a bad Atlantic if they can stay healthy. Charlotte is the big sleeper team of this conference. Wouldn't be surprised if they pull a first round upset depending on who they play. A depleted Miami team is still better than the other teams in the East if healthy (seems like a theme for this conference). Toronto and New York squeak into the playoffs due to talent and talent alone. Not sold on Atlanta keeping it up for another season and Detroit is the most disappointing team because their talent should normally put them in but they have terrible chemistry. Indiana drops off themost due to the injury of Paul George and inconsistency of Hibbert.

WEST RECAP- San Antonio is too strong over the course of the season to lose the top spot. Normally I would put OKC in the second seed however the early injuries to Durant and Westbrook have this team out to a slow start for the first month or so. It'll cost them in the standings. Los Angeles has all the right pieces to be a serious contender in the playoffs. Doc Rivers will have this team be the Spurs Achilles heel in a post season matchup. Steve Kerr inherits a talented squad to get them a 3 seed. Portland doesn't get worse which has them stay in the 4 seed while Houston did get worse. OKC injuries puts them in the 6th seed but will be dangerous in the postseason when/ if healthy. Surprise team in this conference is New Orleans. The young talent on this team is for real and Anthony Davis grows into a superstar putting up consistent triple doubles. Dallas has enough talent to outduel Memphis for the last spot but their age is creeping up on them. After Phoenix there is a huge drop off in wins. Very similar to last year results.

EAST RECAP
Boston is clearly the most talented team in the conference and deepest. Physicality and toughness has them at the top despite losing a couple pieces. Considering not many teams got better in the East I like the Rangers to ride off their playoff run last year to capture the Metropolitan Division. The only competitive team last year to get better this year is Tampa Bay. Surprise team of this conference is the islanders. A healthy John Tavares and a nice addition of Boychuck will lead this team to a playoff appearance in their last year at Nassau Coliseum. Team that takes the biggest drop is Philly. Losing Hartnell will prove costly.  In the playoffs, I believe Tampa upsets heavily favored Boston. Pittsburgh finishes the job they couldn't last year against the Rangers (it pains me to predict that) but don't have enough to stop Tampa as the Lightning win the East.

WEST RECAP
In a conference where the rich get richer, the usual suspects continue to thrive. I actually predict the same 8 teams will make the playoffs this year just in a different order. The real surprises this year are Dallas and my dark horse Edmonton. The Oilers don't have enough depth and talent in their lines yet to crack into the postseason in a stacked conference but their future is bright as they get to 90 points. No Western teams really take a significant drop except that there's a clear gap between the playoff teams and those on the outside. I only really believe Vancouver has a shot to replace on those eight. The young and talented Avalanche win a first round series but don't have enough to take down Chicago. St. Louis pulls off an upset over Anaheim and San Jose but Chicago takes care of them to be crowned in the west once again. The defending champs get eliminated in the first round to the Sharks who should've put them away last year. Chicago eventually defeats Tampa due to too much talent as Tampa doesn't match up well against the team of the decade and Chicago is crowned another Stanley Cup Championship.
